Southington wins 2022 CCC Volleyball Tournament
Southington surprised top seeded RHAM with a 3-0 sweep in the finals to win the 2022 CCC Volleyball tournament. The Blue Knights set the pace early with a dominating 25-11 win in the first set, then closed it out in three straight, 25-21 and 25-22.
Since being swept by RHAM early in he season, the Blue Knights went on an 18-1 streak, including three convincing wins in the CCC tournament to claim the crown.
Southington was led by senior setter Haley Weiner who had 37 assists. Cami Wessels (11) and Gabrielle Ferreira (10) were both in double figures for kills for the Knights. Wessels also led the team with four service aces.
The Blue Knights reached the finals by beating Lewis Mills 3-0 in the opening round, then battled a tough Platt team for a 3-1 win before ousting Newington 3-0 in the semis. RHAM opened the tournament with a sweep of Farmington, then ousted Bristol Central and Simsbury to reach the final for the ninth time in the tournament’s 13 year history.
The tournament title was the third for Southington and the first since 2010.

2021 Girls Volleyball Tournament

Bristol Eastern won a thrilling four-set victory in the championship final to claim the 2021 CCC Girls Volleyball Tournament champion over upset minded Simsbury. The Trojans had knocked off three higher seeded teams to advance to the final and won the first set of the championship match, but the Lancers battled back to take the next three and claim their first title since 2013. It was Simsbury’s first appearance in a CCC final.
Hannah Webber led the attack for the Lancers and finished with 33 kills and two blocks. Senior setter Abby Jones posted 42 assists in the contest along with six digs and six service aces. Simsbury won the first set 26-24, but the Lancers dug in defensively to win the next three 25-17, 25-20 and 25-18.
Faye Kaplinski had 12 kills and 3 blocks for Simsbury. The 9th seeded Trojans were the surprise of the tournament. After beating South Windsor in a tough 5-setter in the opening round, they went on to knock off top-seeded RHAM and fifth seed Southington. The Lancers avenged two regular season losses with wins over Conard and Glastonbury to advance to the championship.

RHAM Wins 4th Straight CCC Tournament Championship
RHAM swept past previously undefeated Bristol Eastern in three sets to win its fourth straight CCC Volleyball Tournament title and fifth in six years. The Sachems were led by Kate Santella who had 33 assists and two kills, Meredih Blinn who had 17 digs, and Keira Sullivan with 15 digs, six kills and two aces. The win avenged a five set loss to the Lancers earlier in the season.
Bristol Eastern was led by Zoe Lowe who had 17 kills and four aces. Eastern finished the regular season at 22-1 while RHAM was 20-1.

RHAM Wins 2017 CCC Volleyball Tournament
Allie Welch had 33 assists and 5 digs and Alana Hruska had 21 kills and 6 blocks to lead RHAM to a 3-game sweep of Southington in the CCC Tournament finals. RHAM swept through the tournament wihout losing a game to finish the regular season at 22-0. It was the second championship in a row and third title in four years for the Sachems.

RHAM Sweeps to Tournament Title
RHAM avenged its only regular season loss with a 25-15, 25-23, 28-26 straight set victory over Farmington in the CCC Tournament final. Farmington, which had not lost a set all season, suffered its first loss.
RHAM’s top performers were Alana Hruska (20 kills, 7 blocks), Lauren Delissio (23 digs) and Allie Welch (39 assists, 11 digs). The Sachems came out strong in the first set to coast to an easy victory but the contest was nip and tuck for the final two sets before RHAM pulled out the last two points of the third set to claim its third CCC Tournament championship and second in three years.
RHAM jumped out to a big early leads in both the second and third sets, but Farmington battled back. The Indians tied the set at 16 after dropping the first seven points of the second set and the two teams battled the rest of way before RHAM broke away for the final two points.
The Sachems took another big lead in the third set. They were on top 12-5 before the Indians fought back to tie the set at 16. The set was tied four more times before RHAM put it away.
Both teams finished with records of 21-1 heading into the state tournament having each beaten the other once during the season.

Platt Wins First Tournament Title
Sixth seeded Platt upset the top three seeds on consecutive days to claim its first ever CCC Volleyball Tournament Title. The Panthers, champions of the CCC South White Division, defeated third seed Farmington in a grueling five set match in the quarterfinals then ousted second seed Southington in the semis and previously unbeaten top seed and defending tournament champion RHAM in the finals by identical 3-1 scores for the win.
Game scores in the championship match were 25-21, 28-26, 20-25 and 26-24.
Gaby Vazquez led the way for the Panthers with 33 kills, 16 digs, four aces and two blocks in the finale. Platt jumped out to a two set lead before RHAM rallied to win the the third set. The Sachems had a 25-24 set point in the fourth set, but a Genesis Cora kill and a Vazquez kill set the stage for the Panthers to rally for the win.
RHAM reached the finals by downing Avon 3-2 and Glastonbury 3-0.It was RHAM’s fourth appearance in the conference tournament championship game.

RHAM wins 2014 C.C.C. Girls Volleyball Tournament
In a battle of unbeatens, CCC East champion RHAM handed Farmington its first loss of the season in the final of the CCC tournament to improve to 22-0. The teams split the first two games with RHAM winning 25-21 in the opener and the Indians coming back to take the second game 25-20. But the Sachems found the momentum in games three and four, winning 25-17 and 25-18 to claim the title. Mckenzie Maneggia had 38 assists, 11 digs and three kills and Kaylee Danaher had 33 digs to lead the way for RHAM.

Bristol Eastern wins 2013 C.C.C. Girls Volleyball Tournament
Bristol Eastern knocked off two teams it had lost to in the regular season to claim the 2013 CCC Girls Volleyball Tournament championship. The Lancers rolled to a 3-0 win over previously unbetaen RHAM in the semi finals then battled to a 3-1 win over Farmington, handing the Indians their first loss in the championship match.
Eastern and Farmington split the first two games of the championship match. The Lancers won the first game 25-19 and the Indians took the second 25-17, but it was all Lancers over the final two games as Eastern rolled 25-15 and 25-12 to claim its second straight CCC tournament title.
Eastern had big nights from seniors Cheyenne Orsi (22 kills and 4 blocks) and Jenna Rodjenski (16, kills, 16 digs, 5 aces and 3 blocks). Setter Brianna Root had 37 assists and 6 digs in the final match for the Lancers.
Eastern (19-2)reached the finals by downing E.O. Smith and RHAM by 3-0 scores. RHAM (19-1) had scored a 3-2 decision over Eastern in a regular season meeting two weeks earlier. Farmington (21-1) reached the final by coasting past South Windsor and Glastonbury by 3-0 scores in the preliminary rounds.

Tournament Format/Qualifying:
Tournament will consist of 8 teams, top two teams from each of the four divisions (must have achieved the 40% required to qualify for tournament)
Team rankings will be based on divisional standings
Ties will be broken by head to head, games won, over-all winning percentage and then a coin toss
The tournament will follow a traditional 8 team bracket (1 v 8, 2 v 7 etc.)

2010 C.C.C. Girls Volleyball Tournament
Southington High School won the 2010 CCC girls volleyball tournament with a 3-0 win over Glastonbury in the championship match. The Blue Knights advanced through the tournament without losing a game with a 3-0 quarterfinal win over Bristol Central and a 3-0 decision over Bristol Eastern in the semis. Glastonbury reached the finals after a tough 3-2 victory over Tolland in the semis. The Tomahawks defeated South Windsor 3-0 in the quarter finals.

Southington High School completed its regular season by capturing the CCC Volleyball Tournament championship with a 3-0 win over Farmington.The Blue Knights, CCC North champions, swept through the tournament without losing a game. Southington finished at 20-1, its only loss coming outside the conference to Coventry. Farmington finished the regular season at 18-3. The Indians were able to avenge an earlier loss to Maloney in the tournament but could not do the same against Southington.
