Southington wins CCC Softball Tournament
Southington dominated the field to win the 2022 CCC Softball Tournament. The Blue Knights downed Enfield 10-0 in the finals after beating Avon 8-2 in the opening round and pounding Bristol Central 13-1 in the semi finals.
Starting pitcher Sam Sullivan allowed just one hit, struck out four and walked one in the first three innings. She also added two hits including an inside the park homer and four RBI for the Blue Knights.
Shortstop Sam Rogers was 3-for-4 with two RBI, two doubles and a homer of her own as she and Sullivan went back-to-back in the first inning.
It was the second CCC tournament title for the Knights who also defeated Enfield in the inaugural event last year. Southington moved to 22-1 with the win.
Enfield reached the finals for the second straight year with two close matches, winning 5-4 over RHAM in the opener and 4-3 over Maloney in the semifinals.
