Northwest Catholic Wins 2025 CCC Tournament Title

Northwest Catholic led for all but a few seconds of the 2025 CCC Boys Basketball championship game, but never by more than a half dozen points as they battled East Catholic basket for basket before coming away with a 54-51 win for their first ever CCC tournament title.
The game was tied at the half and again at the end of three quarters. East Catholic took its only lead of the night late in the third quarter, but the Lions quickly countered.
It was a two point game with six seconds left when the Lions made one of two free throws to take a three point lead. Northwest then
fouled on the inbounds to send the Eagles to the line with three seconds remaining. East made one of two shots and then had to foul to send Anthony Tolliver to the line with two seconds left. He made one of two but then Anthony Thompson came down with the rebound for the Lions to preserve the win.
Drew Dargati and Ryan Tolliver scored 20 points each for Northwest Catholic. The Lions were the tournament’s third seed and reached the finals with wins over Enfield, Hall and Bloomfield.
East Catholic was led by Sincere Folk who was their only player in double digits with 18 points. Joey Montalvo and Jamaul Padilla each had nine. The Eagles were the fourth seed and reached the finals with wins over Maloney, Newington and Windsor.
It was the fourth appearance in a CCC tournament final and the first win for Northwest Catholic. East Catholic was appearing in its ninth final in the last ten years and came away with a narrow loss for the second consecutive season. East last won the championship in 2023.
