East Catholic Wins Third Straight Title
East Catholic rallied in the closing minutes to pull away from Windsor for a 95-81 victory to win its third straight CCC tournament title. The Eagles led by only one midway through the final period, but outscored the Warriors by 13 over the final four minutes to pull out the win.
In a game of spurts by both teams East Catholic had a ten point halftime edge and were up by as many as 13 early in the second half, but Windsor was able to battle back from each deficit until the final minutes. Joe Reilly led East Catholic with 27 points and Jamil Hornesby added 19 as the Eagles continued their perfect season, running the record to 24-0. George Gamble had 28 and Jordan Riley added 21 for the Warriors who dropped to 19-5 with their third loss of the season at the hands of East Catholic.
Top-seeded East Catholic made it to the championship game with wins over Bloomfield, Glastonbury and Bristol Central. Windsor, the #2 seed, advanced by beating NW Catholic, New Britain and Simsbury.
